“Dedicating your time to being AGAINST something is the same as dedicating your life to something you hate; you feed it with your energy. Knowing what you are against, helps you decide what you are FOR. From there, the best thing to do is to pour all of your focus and time and energy into what you are FOR instead.”
— Teal Swan
We live in a world where being against something is often the loudest message in the room.
Scroll through social media, turn on the news, or listen to the latest debate—and you'll see it. Movements, political platforms, and conversations are often built not on what we want to create, but on what we want to destroy.
And while standing against injustice or hardship can feel noble, I’ve found that fighting against something too often keeps us focused on what we don't want—feeding it with our energy, our attention, and ultimately, our power.
I’m not suggesting we ignore real problems. Far from it. There are brave individuals on the front lines every day who fight to keep us safe, to protect freedoms, and to stand for those without a voice. I honor them deeply.
But what if lasting change doesn't come from being against something—but from standing for something even greater?
💭 What if instead of waging war on drugs, we invested in mental health and inspired healthy living?
💭 What if instead of fighting poverty, we focused on building prosperity and possibility?
💭 What if instead of opposing terror, we led with peace, justice, and human connection?
That may sound idealistic—but I believe it’s deeply practical. I’ve lived it. I’ve seen it in the lives of my clients, audiences, and teams I’ve coached.
You don’t need to fuel yourself with resistance. You can choose a new focus: one of purpose, vision, and forward momentum.
In my own journey—from the football field, to martial arts championships, to standing on stages across the country—I’ve learned that it’s not about eliminating the opposition. It’s about refining your purpose in the face of it.
Yes, I’ve fought hard battles. But the goal was never to hate the opponent. It was to grow stronger, more focused, more disciplined—so I could better serve the mission I was for.
One of my favorite stories is of Mother Teresa during the Vietnam War.
When asked to lead a march against the war, she declined. The organizers were stunned.
She gently responded:
“If you hold a march against the war, I will not attend. But if you hold a march for peace, I will lead it.”
That’s the shift we all have the power to make.
So I ask you—
What are YOU for?
Whether you're facing health challenges, financial stress, or conflict in your relationships, the breakthrough begins the moment you stop resisting and start re-aligning.
💥 What do you want to create?
💥 Who do you want to become?
💥 How do you want to lead?
This is the heart of my work as a speaker, coach, and mentor. Through my keynotes and coaching experiences, I help individuals and organizations move past what’s holding them back—and into the clarity of what they’re truly FOR.
